The Propain Spindrift makes freeriding really fun

From helicopters to an own downhill bike:

Robert Krauss, one of the founders of Propain, was employed by a manufacturer of helicopters. While there, he came up with the idea of designing his own downhill bike, with a list of 10 points that make up the perfect bike. In the beginning, Propain was mainly specialized in downhill, but now you can find a number of other bikes in the range. Among them is the Propain Spindrift, which is very versatile.

The Spindrift is available with carbon and aluminum frames

With the Spindrift, you get a freeride bike that can handle any element. Whether Enduro or in the bike park. Here you get a bike where you get your money's worth. Loose and wet ground plays no role for the Spindrift, you master any terrain with it. Although the design of the bike is designed more for wild descents, you can easily manage climbs thanks to the steep seat angle. After all, you should not be deprived of the joy of riding, if every ride uphill becomes a torment. Here, emphasis was placed on the fact that you have a good energy transfer to the pedals in any position.

It has won the MTB News User Award 2 years in a row and also from other trade magazines came praising words. The frame sizes are displayed on the Propain homepage, how the respective size behaves. Thus, there is the possibility to choose between a high smoothness or a playful riding style. The golden mean allows you to experience a bit of each. In addition to the geometry, the chassis and a good price-performance ratio are one of the strengths of the Spindrift.

• Propain Spindrift CF: The lightweight carbon frame provides an agile ride that lets you meander through the trails. Due to good stiffness and an aggressive geometry you achieve a decent performance on almost any surface. The driving fun does not come up short and a day in the bike park passes like nothing. 

It is available as Propain Spindrift CF 29, Spindrift CF 27 as well as Mullet bike. The slightly diminished qualities up the mountains, it makes up for easily by its agility downhill. The Dirt Shield and Acros bearings protect the bike from outside influences. 

With the configurator you can choose the frame size, color, shock and seatpost. So you get a bike that is perfectly matched to you. It is available in size M, size L and size XL. In regards to the equipment you can choose between entry-level, performance and high-end components.

• Propain Spindrift AL: For the aluminum frame 3 alloys were used to get the most out of the frame geometry. It is a durable freeride bike that impresses with its durability. The cable pulls also run on the Propain Spindrift AL inside the frame, which protects against stone chips. Depending on the wheel size, you have the option to choose between agile riding and high smoothness. The Spindrift AL is also available in the high-quality component equipment, as in the performance and beginner edition.

You can choose between 3 different versions of each bike

The Propain Spindrift CF, as well as the Propain Spindrift AL, are available as starter pack, performance bike and high-end bike. You can then refine your choice in the configurator so that the bike meets your requirements.

Propain relies on well-known suppliers for the composition of their freeride bikes. Among them you will find greats such as SRAM, Magura, Fox, RockShox, Crankbrothers, Bikeyoke, Newmen, Sixpack or Schwalbe. Where it makes sense, the company from Allgäu relies on the components from their own hands.

Shift groups & brakes

Derailleur groups: The shifting groups come from SRAM and are available with the SRAM X01 Eagle as mechanical and the SRAM X01 Eagle AXS as electronic shifting. In addition, the SRAM GX Eagle is used.

Brakes: You get modern disc brakes in all three basic configurations. The entry-level and mid-range models are each equipped with brakes from SRAM. The SRAM G2 R and SRAM Code RSC are used. The premium bikes are equipped with Magura MT7 brakes. The Magura disc brakes are a product of German engineering. They are furthermore award-winning and are used by World Cup champion Loic Bruni, among others.

Shock

The Propain Spindrift is a fullsuspension MTB equipped with shocks in the rear triangle as well as a suspension fork. The rear suspension provides extra comfort and stability on your rides. On the entry-level and premium bikes, it's a 180 mm of travel in the rear as well as in the front. The performance bikes have a 190 mm travel at the fork and a 180 mm travel at the rear shock. Whether home trail or adventure in the mountains, here you sit safely and comfortably in the saddle. In addition to the RockShox Zeb Ultimate and RockShox ZEB R suspension fork, Propain relies on the Fox 38 Factory Kashima.

Cockpit

Saddle: The Sixpack Kamikaze is consistently the saddle of choice. He supports your movements while driving and gives you enough freedom to find the ideal line.

Seatpost: Here you have the Fox Factory Transfer, Bikeyoke Revive and Propain seatposts to choose from. In addition, the RockShox Reverb AXS is available in the configurator. All models are telescopic seatposts with different upstroke at the seat tube. Thanks to a steep seat angle, you can also master climbs with flying colors.

Handlebar & Stem: The Sixpack Millenium is the preferred choice for the handlebar, while the stem of the Sixpack Kamikaze and Sixpack Vertic are used.

Wheels & Tires

Wheels: On the top model of the Spindrift series you can enjoy the Crankbrothers Synthesis Enduro wheelset. On the other two base models, the Newmen Evolution will serve you well.

Tires: The choice of tires comes down to the Schwalbe Magic Mary and the VEE Flow SnapTrail. The Schwalbe Magic Mary has excellent traction even in the most difficult terrain. The outer knobs ensure that the tires bite into the ground in any terrain. It can be used for freeride, enduro and downhill bikes. 

Additional equipment

At propain-bikes.com you can get the right gear for track use or stylish casual wear. You can also find some spare parts, decals or a frame protector for your bike. For MTB adventures, a helmet is always an advantage, as well as protectors if you dare to ride on challenging trails.

Do I take the Spindrift model in aluminum or carbon

Other mountain bikes are available if you want to shred the trails even faster. The Propain Tyee Enduro bike is also available with an aluminum and carbon frame. With this approach, you'll be right back at the pace you want, and when climbing, you'll be in good hands too.

The Propain Eugene is an excellent all-rounder that you can use in all situations. The balanced design gives you all the options, whether it's for a short ride out the door or to make the Alps unsafe over the weekend.

With the Propain Ekano you have an excellent e-bike to choose from, which has a powerful motor. The battery power won't let you down even on longer tours, and riding uphill is a real joy with it. You can tear up home trails, let off steam in the bike park and then comfortably climb the next mountain. There are almost no limits set for you.

The Propain Rage is the first bike of the company was before, which is now 15 years in the range. The rear of the frame comes from the Pro 10 series, which has a lot of development work. With the Trickshot bikes you can do nice tricks in the skatepark or power through the pump tracks. It's perfect for letting your playfulness run free. For the kids, there are a whole four models to choose from, some of which come with considerable equipment. With the Yuma and the Frechdax, Propain has two fullys with different wheel sizes on offer. The Dreckspatz is a solid hardtail mountain bike and the Bam Bam is a chic wheel for the very young riders.

From a basement room, the hobby became a profession

When Markus Krauss and Markus Zander made the decision to develop downhill bikes, the basement of the latter had to serve as an office. The beginnings of Propain go back to 2006 and the company has earned its reputation in a short time.
