Propain's beginnings were a downhill bike:
The company founders set out to design the perfect downhill bike, with 10 points to guide. Robert Krauss was responsible for the design and in the beginning Markus Zander's basement was the office space. The first bike to go into production was the Rage, which is still in play today. Over the years, Propain has expanded the product range with more mountain bikes, including e-bikes.
The Rage CF is the first bike that Propain put on the market. For the past 15 years, they've put continuous hours in to get a bit more of performance out of it. It comes with the mighty Pro 10 rear triangle, which boasts with awards. In addition to the size L, the Rage is still available in other frame sizes. The bikes with an older model year are also available with aluminum frame, unlike the new Rage.
The flat steering angle and the longer reach allow you to reach a massive high speed with the new Rage Carbon. The handling is excellent and your position on the bike is extremely stable. The low bottom bracket and seat tube also provide the ideal position for your trips down the slope.
The robust carbon frame is made of blend carbon. You have the choice between a short and long chainstay length. The stainless steel bearings and the Dirt Shield provide good protection against dirt and weather influences. With the shorter chainstay length you are even more agile on the road. Hence you can quickly meander through the bike park. With longer chainstay and large tires you achieve a better smoothness and higher speeds. As a mullet bike you have "business in the front and party in the back". You can easily reach a high speed and do not have to give up the playfulness of the smaller wheel size. The easy adjustment to a different wheel size is done via the Flip-Chip technology.
For a comparison bike, consider the Trek Session 9, which, like the Rage has World Cup experience. The Trek is a high-pivot model, while on the Rage the downward wheel rise curve absorbs bumps. The design and action of the Rage are similar to high-pivot bikes.

In the configurator you have the option to choose between several components. Furthermore, you can choose the decal and head tube badge colors to give your bike an individual touch.
Propain relies on the following manufacturers when equipping their downhill bikes. Among others the components of SRAM, RockShox, Fox, Sixpack, Schwalbe and Newmen are used.
Derailleur: The SRAM X01 DH and SRAM GX DH offer everything you expect from a decent downhill shifting group. The cassette origins from SRAM and the SRAM XG-795 and the PG-720 are put in place. For the crank, the SRAM X01 DH Carbon or Truvativ Descendant are used.
Brakes: Modern disc brakes such as the Magura MT7, SRAM Code RSC or Formula Cura 4 are used. Especially at high speeds and the occurring gravity you need a reliable braking performance that also grips in muddy and rainy terrain. This is also the reason why the heavier disc brakes first gained a foothold in the MTB sector.
Despite extra weight and special tools for changing, you will no longer want to do without such excellent braking power on your mountain bike. Another big advantage is the low power consumption, which is almost 20% less than that of rim brakes. This pays off especially when constantly braking downhill.
The suspension fork and the rear shock ensure that you can race down the hills quickly and safely at the same time. You sit stable on your bike and can concentrate completely on your ideal line. The hunt for new records is no longer in the way. The suspension travel is 203 mm in the high-end model. In the performance and starter bikes you will be delighted with a 200 mm travel.
The Rage can be equipped with steel spring or air spring shocks. The damper position in front of the seat tube allows a better weight distribution for a better handling. For the suspension fork, the Fox 40 Factory Kashima, RockShox Boxxer Ultimate and RockShox Boxxer Select are used. The rear shock is either a Fox DHX2 Factory or the RockShox Super Deluxe on current models.
Saddle: The Sixpack Kamikaze gives you enough space to ride comfortably and aggressively at the same time to tackle your downhill adventure.
Seatpost: For the seatpost in-house designed products are used which you can fully rely on.
Handlebar & Stem: In the front part of the cockpit you get the Millenium series of Sixpack. For the handlebars you get the Sixpack Millenium 805 and for the stem the Sixpack Millenium DRM 35.
Wheels: Here Propain relies on the quality of Newmen. On the new Rage you get to enjoy either the Newmen Evolution or Newmen Performance wheelset.
Tires: The Schwalbe Magic Mary is the preferred choice for tires. It provides a good traction control and gives the best grip even in the most difficult terrain. On the Mullet Bike you have a large tire on the front for smoother running and a small one on the rear for more agility.
At propain-bikes.com you can get pedals, protectors and decals for your bike. For downhill rides protectors for your own protection are also very helpful, as is a helmet.
If you don't want a pure downhill bike after all, Propain offers you a good range of other MTBs. With the Tyee you will have your enduro pleasure since it also masters the climbs relatively well. The Spindrift is even more flexible and stands for a pure freeride experience. As a trail bike the Propain Hugene is the way to go, which can be selected like most bikes with different wheel sizes. Thus you also have the choice between stability and speed or a playful driving style through the woods.
Do you prefer electronic assistance, whether for climbs or longer trips? If so, then the Ekano is a top E-MTB at hand. If you prefer to let off steam in the bike park or on pumptracks you better get the Propain Trickshot. With that bike you can give free rein to your creativity and enjoy doing laps or tricks.
For the younger clientele, Propain has 4 bikes on offer, which makes up a considerable part of the product range. This ensures that even the youngest riders can enjoy high-quality bikes. The Yuma fullsuspension bike can be chosen in two different wheel sizes. With the Frechdax and Dreckspatz a hardtail and a fully are available one size below. For the smallest there is the Bam Bam which comes without pedals.
From the beginnings in the cellar of Markus Zander to the current company headquarters in Vogt, Allgäu, the company headquarters was changed several times. That guaranteed that the development of the bikes was always tackled with a foresight of future developments. From the first DH bike to today's collection it is clearly visible how the company has grown continuously. Today you'll find 10 different mountain bikes in the range, which are often given praise by the trade press.
With the Propain Factory Enduro and Propain Positive, the company also has 2 teams that contribute to the development of the bikes. Only through hard use in the most demanding terrain can the bikes be optimized down to the smallest detail. This ensures that you get a balanced concept with every bike.
An important factor that has been a vital factor to the growth of the company is the direct sale. This creates a direct line between manufacturer and riders and avoids middlemen. This allows prices to be kept as low as possible and you get more bike for your money.
