The Propain Ekano is an e-mountain bike with high performance potential

The bike promises high performance in challenging terrain. The steep seat angle makes it possible for you to master the uphill slope effortlessly. In addition the E-MTB still has a powerful EP8 motor from Shimano with a large battery. Depending on the version, batteries for the electronic shifting and the suspension are added. The Ekano AL has a Bosch motor on bikes with older model year. It is available as the Ekano AL 27, Ekano AL 29 or Ekano AL Mullet Bike and is a lot of fun as a trail bike and in the bike park. One of the predecessor models is, for example, the Propain Ekano 165.
The lightweight and robust frame gives you the feeling of maximum safety in demanding terrain. Among other things, the low center of gravity is a decisive factor for this. The frameset is made of Blend Alloy, which includes 3 alloys. The compact frame and the perfectly adjusted chassis provide control and agility. The Acros bearings and the Dirt Shield protect the individual parts from dirt and increase the service life.
In addition, thanks to Flip Chip technology, you have the option to adjust the tire size to your riding style. Small tires offer you more maneuverability and the large tires provide a good running smoothness. The Mullet bike offers a healthy middle ground if you prefer the riding characteristics of both.
The choice of components is selected separately for each basic setting. So even with the starter bike you get reliable equipment that make your trip to the mountains enjoyable. The more ambitious you are, the more sense it makes to choose the performance or even the high-end model. The strengths are definitely in the enduro area and downhill, for all-mountain it is rather mediocre to use.

The configurator usually starts with the size L at the frame but you have the choice of three other frame sizes. There you will find the components of Shimano, SRAM, Bosch, Fox Factory, Newmen or Schwalbe among others.
Derailleur groups & brakes
Gear groups: The Ekano e-mountain bike relies on products from SRAM, with the SRAM GX Eagle, SRAM X01 Eagle and SRAM X01 Eagle AXS. For the crank, the Shimano Eagle CR Alloy and Shimano Eagle CR Steel are used.
Brakes: A separate brake was selected for each base model. The Magura MT7, SRAM Code RSC and Formula Cura 4 are used. All three are highly efficient disc brakes that give you the feeling of security down the hill.
Drive systems: With the powerful and new Shimano EP8 motor and the large Shimano BT 504 Wh battery you climb every peak with ease. Long tours can also be better planned as you always have the option to switch on additional help. The motor offers 3 levels with Eco, Trail and Boost. This way you can explore regions that seem almost impossible with your own muscle power. On older bikes, you'll also find Bosch motors. The motor and down tube are protected to prevent the e-mountain bike from dirt and damage.
Shock
In addition to the suspension fork with a 170 mm travel the Propain Ekano has a rear shock. The suspension at the rear has a 165 mm travel. Thus you have enough resource to race down the slopes.
For that, among others, the Fox 38 Factory Kashima, RockShox ZEB Ultimate and RockShox ZEB R suspension fork is relied on. In addition, the Fox Float X2 Factory, RockShox Super Deluxe Ultimate RCT and RockShox Select R coil shocks are used.
Cockpit
Saddle: The Sixpack Kamikaze is consistently the choice for the saddle. It is extremely resilient thanks to modern materials. The ergonomic design thereby spares the body parts where otherwise the first complaints occur. Despite much comfort the saddle is robust and brings little weight on the scale.
Seatpost: The Fox Transfer Factory is used on the high-end bike and the Bikeyoke Divine seatpost on the other two basic versions.
Handlebars & Stem: The handlebars are Sixpack Millenium and for the stem the Sixpack Vertic and Sixpack Millenium are used.
Wheels & Tires
Wheels: The wheelset comes either from Crankbrothers or Newmen. The Crankbrothers Synthesis and the Newmen Performance are the to go versions. Another wheelset that fits well with the Ekano is the Stan's NoTubes ZTR Baron S1.
For more smoothness you best opt for large wheels. If you prefer a nimble and agile riding style you are better served with the 27-inch version. The Mullet Bike is a successful all-rounder that can handle any situation.
Tires: The Schwalbe Eddy Current is the preferred choice for tires on the Ekano E-Enduro bike. It is Schwalbe's first E-MTB tire inspired by motocross. It features massive lugs paired with a good grip in the front and maximum braking and propulsion traction in the rear.

Which Propain Ekano should I choose
As a variant without a motor, the Propain Tyee is available for you to choose from. It is an excellent enduro bike which you can get with a carbon and aluminum frame. As a trail bike the Propain Hugene is ready for you. It delivers a smooth ride up and down the hill as a very versatile vehicle. If you are looking for a freeride bike, the Propain Spindrift is a good choice. It is a two-time winner of the MTB User Awards and is also available in carbon and aluminum.
The Propain Rage CF incorporates all the company's experience. It is the first bike that Propain brought to market and it is continuously improved. The award-winning Pro 10 rear end provides pure downhill fun. With the Trickshot you make a good impression on the pump tracks and in the skate park. The playfulness awakens the child in you and a day flies by.
For the younger riders there is also a product range worth seeing. The Yuma is a fullsuspension MTB that is selectable with two wheel sizes. The Frechdax and Dreckspatz are a fully and hardtail MTB, respectively, with 20 mm tires. For the youngest there is the Bam Bam Pushbike, which comes without pedals.
