YT Tues

Facts

The YT Tues is a downhill bike that is available in different variants: once as Tues Pro Race, then as Tues Pro and the Tues Base version as well as the Core models. From the Downhill World Cup to the Rampaget he YT Tues dominates because of the ever-improving kinematics. 

Thanks to its speed through rough terrain as well as big jumps it has collected 4 Downhill World Cup titles. In addition it got 2 World Championships and it was represented seven times on the Rampage podium. Such accumulation of successes speaks for itself and should something go wrong it was hardly the Tues. The frame sizes at the Tues Pro Race and Tues Pro are Long and X-Long while the YT Tues Base is available in the frame size S-XXL.

• Tues Core: The current models are the Core 2 and the Core 4. The former is suitable for beginners due to the price with extremely reliable components. The Core 4 impresses with its equipment and is a popular choice for ambitious riders.

• Tues Pro Race: With the YT Tues Pro Race as flagship no wishes remain unfulfilled whether on the race track or in the bike park. It offers a 203 mm travel, best performance as well as fully adjustable suspension elements and it has the lightest carbon parts including carbon frame. You've got the YT Tues CF Pro Race 27 and the YT Tues CF Pro Race 29 model.

• Tues Pro: With the Tues Pro a careful selection was made for premium components. The YT Tues Pro also has a carbon frame and a suspension with 203 mm travel. Thanks to fully adjustable shocks and resilient parts you master even the most challenging descents for maximum fun on the slopes.

• YT Tues AL: The base model YT Tues AL Base offers you a solid performance, high-quality components, and an aluminum frame with 200 mm travel. The shocks can be easily adjusted and you can use it perfectly for long-term freeriding fun due to the robust construction.

• Tues CF Comp: The Tues CF Comp was another of the earlier models of YT downhill bikes.

History

YT Industries has only been around since 2007 but they have built up an excellent reputation in a very short time. Since 2011 they have been operating under the name Young Talent Industries and the team now comprises almost 100 employees. They not only produce bicycles but also provide a lifestyle that is easily recognizable on yt-industries.com. With the Goatman they have even released their own four-part film production.

In the components and suspension elements can be found excellent manufacturers

An excellent choice for the equipment was again found in the YT Tues models. Among them appear well-known manukacturers: 

• SRAM

• RockShox / Fox

• Renthal / Acros / SDG Components

• Maxxis / e*thirteen

Groupsets

• The crank, as well as the rear derailleur are part of the groupset and these come from SRAM or e*thirteen. Here are some of the components listed:

  Front derailleur / rear derailleur: SRAM X01 DH, SRAM GX DH

  Crankset: e*thirteen LG1

  Cassette: SRAM Descendant DH

• The SRAM GX DH series has almost the same features as the SRAM high-end product X01 DH but is a lot cheaper. The rear derailleur as well as the crankset and front derailleur cost less than a third for the GX DH compared to the X01 DH. The crank is heavier and the rear derailleur is not quite as robust and also wears out faster.

Brakes

• Rim brakes are almost no longer found in the mountain bike segment. They have been replaced for a few years by the more effective disc brakes. These have a weight disadvantage and are more cumbersome to change but nevertheless their market share is steadily increasing even in other categories. The main argument is the better braking performance especially in muddy and rainy conditions. For good braking performance YT relies on SRAM Code models like the SRAM Code RSC and SRAM Code R.

Shock

• When choosing the dampers with suspension fork and shock they rely on the quality of RockShox and Fox. The suspension fork is either a Fox 40 Float Factory, Fox 40 Float Performance Elite or a RockShox Boxxer Select suspension fork. The RockShox Boxxer Select suspension fork is based on the same chassis as the Boxxer Ultimate and also features DebonAir™ air suspension. With the race-proven Maxima Damp Plush shock fluid and the Charger™ RC spring is provided for best performance: by Low Speed Compression and Rebound Adjustment.

• For the shocks you choose between the Fox Float X2 Factory, Fox DHX2 Factory or the RockShox VIVID R2C. The high price for the Float X2 Factroy goes hand in hand with high-end performance. The rear shock is one of Fox Factory's top models with maximum customizable settings for the toughest terrain. It features high-speed compression and high-speed rebound damping adjustments. The new MCU Bottom-Out Bumpers allow even violent blows to be better absorbed.

Saddle / Seatpost

• SDG Components is the preferred brand for the saddle as well as for the seatpost: with the SDG I-Fly 2.0 as saddle and the SDG I-Beam, SDG I-Beam Carbon and SDG I-Beam Alloy seatpost. The SDG I-Fly 2.0 saddle is the ultimate racing saddle for all disciplines, with minimalist design and unparalleled performance. It features patented I-Beam technology and an improved nylon fiberglass frame. The I-Beam technology allows a range of quick and easy adjustments. 

• Furthermore it has a cutout in the back that prevents the larger downhill tires from hitting the frame especially at full compression. The I-Fly 2.0 is the saddle of choice for many World Cup teams: such as the Intense Factory Racing Team, the YT Mob or even the Cube Global Squad.   

Handlebar & Stem

• For the selection of handlebars and stem the products of Renthal come into play as so often with the current YT bikes: such as the Renthal Integra 35 / Renthal Fatbar 35 combination. Furthermore there is also the pairing with Race Face Chester 35 stem and Race Face Chester 35 handlebar. For the headset, they use the Acros AZX-255 as well as the Acros AZX-257 among others.

Wheels / Tires

• Several e*thirteen products are used for the wheels: the LG1 Race DH Carbon, e*thirteen LG1 Plus or even the e*thirteen wheelset.

• For the choice of tires YT relies on the Maxxis Assegai. The Maxxis Assegai is Greg Minaar's flagship tire. The Assegai has an aggressive tread and the best traction for a wide range of trail conditions. You can use the Assegai in the front as well as in the rear. Either as a pair with more feel underfoot or even with a faster model on the rear.   

Additional Equipment

• In addition to all sorts of spare parts you'll also find bags as well as stylish apparel collections. The spare parts such as pedals are listed by bike model. This facilitates the search if you need to change something or your riding skills require an upgrade.

Have I made the right choice with the YT Tues

For those who prefer to ride an all-mountain MTB the YT Jeffsy mountain bikes are the perfect choice. If you have more fun letting off steam on the trails or in the bike park we recommend the YT Izzo trail bike. And if you prefer to go full out with an enduro MTB, the YT Capra is an excellent choice. With the Dirtlove the name says it all and it lets you plow the dirt trails really well. The Jeffsy Primus which is available in only one frame size was developed for junior riders. Also for the new generation YT already uses very high quality components. For e-bike lovers YT offers two E-MTB models: once the YT Decoy 29 E-MTB All-Mountain and then still the YT Decoy E-MTB Enduro.
