History

For everyone to enjoy the Megatower the bike is available from frame size S to XXL. For the frameset you have 2 alternatives to choose from. You can choose either the Carbon C or Carbon CC frame.

For a little less money you get the Carbon C frameset which brings a little more weight to the table. With the Carbon CC frame you will get the best materials which are combined with the latest technology.

With both frames you have a lifetime warranty and can rely on their robustness and stiffness. High-speed downhill incl. good handling on climbs are assured with the Santa Cruz Megatower.

To round off the package, the Megatowe is equipped with a mud flap on the rear triangle which protects the suspension from dirt. On the down tube is a rubber coating that protects against stone chips or branches. Due to internal cable routing it has a neat look to it.

Facts 

The angle of the seat tube is designed so you do not have to shy away from climbs. Down the slope pleasure is a sure thing at all times. With an increasing frame size the seat tube is steeper for every rider to enjoy a reasonable seat angle. Also the chainstay varies depending on the frame height. The different chainstay length ensures that you always get the right frame geometry. In addition to the size-specific geometry the flat steering angle also ensures you smooth uphill rides.

In the down tube is a glove box in which you can store small items. The glove box is standard equipped with a tool bag and a wallet in tube form. In addition to these two accessories you can fit your keys or a pair of gloves in it. Above the glovebox you have a bottle cage that still fits despite flip-chip technology. In addition larger shocks with a coil can be attached.

Components and equipment for the Factor Hanzo 

The Santa Cruz Megatower offers you a variety of models. It starts in the mid-price segment and goes up to high-quality bikes with top-notch components. Mostly the same manufacturers are used just with different product types. The products of SRAM, WTB, Maxxis, Race Face, Industry Nine or Burgtec are used and if possible the factor in-house products are used.

Gear groups

• Santa Cruz preferably relies on the quality of SRAM in the selection of the shifting groups. Starting with the SRAM NX Eagle followed by the SRAM GX Eagle AXS and last the SRAM X01 Eagle AXS. The SRAM NX Eagle is a mechanical circuit while the SRAM GX AXS and X01 AXS provide electrical shifting. For the crank the SRAM GX Eagle 148 DUB is used. 

Brakes

• Also for the brakes you find different vartions depending on the price range in you move. No matter which package you choose all Megatower models come with modern disc brakes. Especially when you're blasting down the slope at full throttle in the bike park you need reliable brakes. Disc brakes offer you steady braking performance in all conditions, even in muddy and wet conditions.
• Santa Cruz relies on the SRAM Code R, SRAM Code RS and SRAM Code RSC brakes. For the brake discs you get either the Avid Centerline or the SRAM HS2 discs. The latter are slightly thicker for better performance and should heat up less quickly.

Shock

• The Megatower 2 C is a fullsuspension mountain bike, with a suspension fork and another shock in the rear. With a VPP suspension travel of 165 mm the Santa Cruz Megatower offers optimal handling. 
• The standard 165 mm travel can be increased to 170 mm if necessary for more daring down the slope rides. Santa Cruz provides several chassis suspension options from RockShox and Fox.

Saddle

• For the saddle the Californians have consistently relied on the WTB Silverado Medium CroMo. The flat and comfortable WTB Silverado allows you to vary your riding position.

Seatpost

• On the cheapest model you get the SDG Tellis Dropper Seatpost. For all other variants the RockShox Reverb Stealth is available to you. With the RockShox Reverb Stealth you get a reliable seatpost that is easy to maintain.

Handlebar & Stem

• For the handlebars an in-house development is used, with the Santa Cruz 35 Carbon handlebar. The Californians rely for the stem on the Burgtec Enduro MK3.

Wheels

• For the rims in front as well as the rear rim the RaceFace ARC Offset 30 29" wheelset is used. With larger wheels you have a better smoothness and achieve higher speeds. For the hub the i9 from Industry Nine is used in the rear and front.

Tires

• The choice of tires falls on Maxxis for all Megatower models. In front you get the Maxxis Assegai 29 "x2.5" 3C MaxxGrip, EXO+, TR and for the rear wheel is the Maxxis Minion DHR II 29 "x2.4 "WT, 3C MaxxTerra, EXO+, TR. The Maxxis Assegai and the Minion DHR II are a great combination for enduro and trail riding. At high speeds they give you a sense of security so you can just enjoy your rides.

Additional equipment

• Solid pedals incl. the right footwear are always important. Only in this way you have the best grip when you plow up and down the woods. A helmet, goggles and protectors are always recommended especially if you like to ride more aggressively.

Which combination of the Santa Cruz Megatower suits me best

Depending on how ambitious you are you can reach from the mid-price segment up to a top shelf bike. However it is always important to know whether you have chosen the MTB for the right purpose. Santa Cruz offers you plenty of other MTBs.

The Santa Cruz V10 is a pure downhill bike while you do well with the Nomad on trails of any kind. The Santa Cruz Bronson is flexible and makes a good impression on steep climbs as well as downhill. Equally versatile is the Santa Cruz Hightower and if you're looking for a mullet bike the Santa Cruz 5010 is a great choice. With the Santa Cruz Tallboy you have a mixture of s downhill and cross-country MTB. If you want a pure cross-country bike the Santa Cruz Blur is a good choice. As hardtail mountain bikes the Santa Cruz Highball and Santa Cruz Chameleon are in the range. The Highball is one of the flagships of the Californians. For pure fun in the bike park, the Santa Cruz Jackal is a good recommendation. With the Santa Cruz Stigmata you can opt for a gravel bike. This is worthwhile if you are frequently on the road as well. For e-bikes you have the choice between the Santa Cruz Bullit and the Santa Cruz Heckler choose-.

Rob Roskopp preferred to go his own way instead of letting other people explain MTBs to him

He was a professional skateboarder in the 80s and later developed a soft spot for MTBs. It all started in a garage in California located in Santa Cruz where the company has still its headquarter.
