Facts

The high-quality full carbon frameset was produced with a new manufacturing process. This gives you a frameset that weighs less than 1 kg. A higher number of fibers increases the stiffness for a better ride. The number of layers is less and the tubes are slimmer than usual. This does not affect the tube stiffness and the carbon frame weighs 300 grams less than its predecessor. For optimum stiffness Ultra High Modulus (UHM) fibers are used more in certain areas. At the same time neither the good aero properties nor the handling have deteriorated. In fact you'll have even more fun on your rides. To ensure this it is important to know the right frame size. With the wrong frame size you are less efficient and the seating position is also not ideal.

The Look 795 Blade RS is a high-end road bike with the best aerodynamics. The agility and high stiffness are made for racing. Compared to the previous version even more technology is used in the manufacturing process. The frameset is equipped with Pressfit BB386 standard bottom bracket and compatible with 30 mm axles (FSA 386 EVO, Rotor).

For you to enjoy the high speed even on longer trips sufficient comfort was added to its qualities. A slightly older model is the Look 795 Aerolight. It has a fork with integrated rim brakes and a Look Zed Monocoque crank. 

To know where the Look 795 stands in comparison to other brands it's worth contrasting similar models. Competitor bikes from the likes of Cervélo or BMC are a good way to compare it. Both are also premium manufacturers where speed ranks high. 

History

Look was founded in 1951 in Never, France by Jean Beyl. The beginnings can be found in skiing but the innovations were also taken to the bicycle sector. With the purchase in 1983 by the Bernard Tapie Sport Group the focus went more onto cycling. For this the world-class rider Bernard Hinault was taken under contract who won the Tour de France the following year.

This was due in part to one of the Look innovations. Hinault competed with the newly developed PP65 automatic pedals. At that time the competition still had their feet attached to the pedals with straps. He crashed heavily in the final sprint of the 14th stage but was able to continue the tour thanks to the new pedals. With the old system he probably would have injured himself more seriously but he took the overall victory instead.

Look is constantly striving to use as many components as possible from their own production. This means that they are less dependent on suppliers and can tailor the individual parts to the respective bike in the best possible way. When they are not using their own products they rely on high-quality components from well-known manufacturers. Among them are the likes of Shimano, SRAM, Hutchinson or Corima.

If you choose the full carbon frameset to equip you decide which crank or bottom bracket you will be riding with.

Derailleur groups

• Among the groupsets you will find the Shimano Ultegra, Shimano Ultegra Di2 or SRAM Red eTap AXS. Other excellent gear groups are the Shimano Dura Ace-Di2 and SRAM Rival eTap AXS. When it comes to the bottom bracket the Token Ninja SRAM DUB is a popular choice no matter which manufacturer the shifting group comes from.

Brakes

• The Look 795 Blade RS Disc Ultegra Di2 is equipped with disc brakes just like the other models. If you prefer rim brakes, you can choose a frameset and equip it according to your own preferences. Disc brakes are by far more efficient than rim brakes. The Look 795 Aerolight for example is still available as a used bike with rim brakes.

Saddle

• When it comes to the saddle the Look by San Marco Short Fit Dynamic is a good choice. It combines performance and comfort at a good price. The curvilinear design ensures that you sit comfortably on it despite its small surface area. The saddle is versatile and weighs only 195 grams. It is equipped with Biofoam padding and it's a unisex saddle. Short Fit saddles are becoming increasingly popular because they can be used for different purposes.

Seatpost

• The carbon Look Aeropost 3 is a popular choice for a seatpost. An aero seatpost keeps air turbulence to a minimum for maximum propulsion.

Handlebar & Stem

• For handlebars and stem the French also rely on their own products. The Look ADH handlebar comes in several sizes as does the Look ADS stem.

Wheels

• In collaboration with Corima, the Look R 38 D carbon wheelset has been created. They are made for disc brakes and have a high stiffness. Combined with the lightweight design you can go full throttle with them.
• Another good wheelset is the CORIMA 47 mm WS Black DX Disc. Here you can see very well the experience of Corima in the field of carbon wheels. In addition to high speeds sufficient comfort is provided. The wheelset is popular with professionals and recreational riders alike.

Tires

• With the Look 795 Blade RS Disc Proteam White Glossy you get to enjoy the Mavic Yksion Pro tubeless tires.
• On further models you'll find the Continental GP 5000 Tubeless among others. The reinforced sidewall makes the tire less prone to punctures. It is made by hand and offers more comfort and speed than ever.

Additional equipment

• What needs to be in your shopping cart is based on the requirements of your tours. Proper clothing always looks good and is best worn as tightly as possible when racing. In muddy weather a rain jacket is worthwhile so you can dash through the rain.

Have I already made the right choice with the Look 795 Blade

Are you not sure if the Look 795 Blade RS Disc is already the right choice? Look has other models on offer for you some of which can be used off the road. However the main focus is on road bikes. 

If you like to ride the switchbacks in the Alps the 785 Huez is a good choice. It climbs the peaks with ease and has good stability for speedy downhill rides. As an endurance road bike Look has two models on offer. The 765 Optimum and 765 Gotham combine comfort for long rides as well as speed. 

For time trial riders there are several framesets available. You can choose between the 875 Madison, AL 464 Proteam, 895 Vitesse and the T20 frame. In addition to the Look 795 Blade the 796 Monoblade RS is an excellent bike for triathletes. It is only available as a frame for customization but with it the next triathlon is sure to be a success.

If you prefer to ride on dirt roads and trails a gravel bike is the best choice. It achieves high speeds on asphalt and offers safety on loose surfaces.
