For sale: A Battaglin Corsa C-Record "World Champion '87", from 1987 or 1988. The size 53CT/52CC frame is made of Columbus SLX tubing, with numerous distinct Battaglin logos and name pantographs. The famous Cinelli "spoiler" bottom bracket with the frame number 225 confirms this is an early "aero" example with rear brake cable going through the top tube (like the one in the Speedbicycles museum). It is painted in a marvelous glossy purple metallic (an older re-spray over the same original colour). Although there are a few small patches rubbed through the clear coat, as seen in the picture of the top tube just above the Italian flag, this does not detract from the overall beautiful and unique appearance and the excellent state of the paint-job. There are no spots, dents or scratches on the frame, and the chrome is still in good condition although there are a few spots on the fork as shown in the pictures.
The Campagnolo drive-train and shifting are all 1987 C-Record (the first year of the 2nd generation C-Record, incl. the elusive adjustment screw for the rear-derailleur), as are the brake-levers and Delta brakes. There are Campagnolo Record/Chorus QR pedals attached to the C-Record crank. On the C-Record seat-post there is a very nice Selle Italia Flite Titanium saddle with a rare brown leather cover. The wheelset is made up of C-Record hubs on Rigida DP18 rims, with a very nice Maillard 7 speed freewheel. To match the Cinelli "spoiler" bottom bracket, the cockpit is made up of a Cinelli 1A stem, with a nice and period Cinelli Touch handlebar, enabling the "aero" set-up of the C-Record brake levers. The pedals and the saddle are the only upgrades made to the original set-up. Of course there are new tires, chain, cables, original NOS brake-hoods, a NOS period Elite bottle-cage and nice white bar-tape to complete this aesthetically pleasing and fully functional race bike.
